Women’s healthcare with prevention at its heart.

The hospital is named after Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, the Holy Consort of Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, with the blessings of Swami Ranganathananda, the 13th President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

It was inaugurated on 4 June 2009 by Swami Satyarupananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Ashram, Raipur, and Shri Amar Agrawal, then Health Minister of Chhattisgarh.

SMSA works in women’s health with the aim of providing the services a woman may need throughout her life in one place. Its work encompasses obstetrics, gynaecology, preventive oncology, fertility care and health education.

Our focus

Alongside routine obstetric care, the hospital has experience caring for high-risk and multiple pregnancies, recurrent pregnancy loss, ectopic pregnancy, pregnancy-induced hypertension and medical conditions complicating pregnancy.

Gynaecological care includes infertility, fibroids, ovarian tumours and cysts, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, infections, abnormal uterine bleeding and menopause care.

The preventive oncology programme promotes awareness and screening for cervical and breast cancer and tobacco-related cancers. It provides colposcopy and care for pre-cancerous cervical lesions. Cancer surgery and chemotherapy have also been offered with specialist support.

Vision and mission

The hospital began with a strong focus on preventing cervical cancer through awareness, vaccination and screening information, diagnosis, and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions. Its broader mission is ethical, appropriate care and comprehensive services for women.
